Postgraduate Program in Education Master and Doctorate


     

The Postgraduate Program in Education aims to train researchers ready and committed to production, promotion and advancement of scientific knowledge in the Education field and with the intervention of problems related to the educational phenomenon in its multiple dimensions and determinations, aiming at social transformation.

To stimulate research development that seeks to contribute towards a better understanding of educational reality, in its historical and cultural relations, and for professionals to work in such reality.

To promote research connected with objectives with their lines and search groups.

To provide theoretical and conceptual opportunities and epistemological and methodological approaches about research processes in education.

To promote diverse academic activities and in different learning environments, in order to contribute to the training of high-level researchers.

To promote academic introduction of researchers and students into the Program in the regional, national and international contexts.

To promote socialization of knowledge produced and training experiences, expanding exchanges with the educational community and society at large.

Policies and Processes in Education: The Postgraduate Program in Education focuses on public policies for education and the educational phenomenon with its multiple dimensions and determinations. It takes into account the scientific development in the field, professional training who are able to work with the educational issues, relating them to both the national and international contexts, from the social and human development perspective.

Education, Public Policies and Citizenship – It investigates educational policies, namely those of training and teaching, evaluation and regulation of school education, educational management and others which inform the action of the State and the transformations occurred in the educational field at different levels, periods and socio-historical contexts. It deals with the relationship between the State and Society, with regard to the formulation of public agendas and the development of educational proposals, and repercussions on the promotion of citizenship.

Educational Processes – It investigates the processes of teaching and learning, considering the relationships that are established between different theoretical perspectives of teaching, learning and development and pedagogical practices that are processed in different times and educational spaces, levels of schooling and types of education.

The master’s degree program consists of 31 credits distributed between courses and required curricular activities (including thesis supervision) and electives. Up to three credits, completed in postgraduate courses at most three years ago, may be used as elective curricular components.
